Franco-colombien résidant à Paris depuis l’âge de 20 ans, Carlos Moreno est professeur à ‘IAE Paris Sorbonne, co-fondateur et directeur scientifique de la Chaire “Entrepreneuriat, Territoire, Innovation”. (ETI). Il est un chercheur multidisciplinaire reconnu à l’échelle internationale pour sa créativité et ses propositions innovantes visant à améliorer la qualité de vie dans les villes et les territoires.
En tant que créateur du concept de la Ville du Quart d’Heure, Carlos Moreno a reçu en 2022 le prestigieux Parchemin d’Honneur de l’UN-Habitat, distinction mondiale réservée à celles et ceux qui œuvrent pour un urbanisme durable.
Membre élu de l’Académie Française des Technologies, il a été aussi fait membre de l’Académie Internationale r’Architecture et il a été également intégré à l’Académie Américaine du Logement et des Communautés, en reconnaissance de ses « grandes réalisations dans les domaines de la connaissance, de la sagesse et des pratiques urbaines ». En 2023, il a été coopté par Sigma Xi, la plus grande société d’honneur scientifique au monde, fondée en 1886 à l’université Cornell de New York, qui compte plus de 200 lauréats du prix Nobel parmi ses membres.
Carlos Moreno est aussi ambassadeur de la Fondation Jacques Rougerie de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts – Institut de France, promouvant l’innovation architecturale et la création artistique en lien avec le monde de la mer et de l’espace.
Son travail a été salué par de nombreux prix et distinctions, parmi lesquels le Global Leadership Award for Sustainable Development, l’Obel Award, le FIABCI World Award For Building Better Lives, le SCWEC World Urban Leadership, la Médaille de la Prospective de l’Académie Française de l’Architecture et la Légion d’Honneur de la République Française.
Ses écrits font le tour du monde : ses livres sont disponibles en 12 langues. Ses apports enrichissent de nombreux ouvrages en tant que co-auteur, directeur scientifique, co-éditeur ou co-directeur de collection.
Le journal Politico Europe a classé Carlos Moreno parmi les 28 personnes les plus influentes en Europe en matière de développement durable. En 2023, le site américain Planetizen l’a désigné comme le 10e urbaniste contemporain le plus influent au monde.
